ASSESSMENT PROCESS MANUAL

SACSCOC Comprehensive Standard 3.3.1
The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results in each of the following areas:

3.3.1.1 educational programs, to include student learning outcomes
3.3.1.2 administrative support services
3.3.1.3 educational support services
3.3.1.4 (see 3.3.1.1)
3.3.1.5 (see 3.3.1.1)

Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (3.3.1.1)
  • Identify student learning outcomes at the program level (see appropriate Catalog listing)
    • Learning outcomes should be:
      • linked to one or more University Statement of Purpose components - Linkage Documents
      • linked to one or more University Educational Goals - Linkage Documents
      • expressed in behavioral terms (what students know, do, exemplify)
      • measurable
  • Assess student learning outcomes on an annual basis using the Academic Major Assessment Form - Assessment Forms
    • Column 1 - Choose at least three learning outcomes from program Catalog listing to assess each academic year
    • Column 2 - Choose adequate means of assessment (use at least one direct method)
    • Column 3 - Choose the criteria for success that will demonstrate the outcome is achieved
    • Column 4 - Report results of the planned means of assessment
    • Column 5 - Analyze how results of the assessment may be used to improve student learning
    • Report how the implementation will impact the 2014-2015 budget proposal for upcoming academic year (report this in the section below columns on assessment form)
    • Implement the planned use of assessment results or document the specific steps that will be taken to implement the use of assessment
    • Implementation of changes/improvements to improve student learning confirmed via email using the use confirmation form

Assessment of Administrative Support Services/Educational Support Services
(3.3.1.2 & 3.3.1.3)

  • Identify the mission of the administrative/educational support unit including a brief description of services provided.
    • The Unit mission should link to one or more University Statement of Purpose components OR one or more University Operational Goals - Linkage Documents
    • Service outcomes should be:
      • expressed in terms of service provided
      • measurable
  • Assess service outcomes on an annual basis using the Administrative Unit Assessment Form - Assessment Forms
    • Column 1 - Choose at two or three service outcomes (based on your unit mission) to assess each academic year
    • Column 2 - Choose adequate means of assessment (use at least one direct method)
    • Column 3 - Choose the criteria for success that will demonstrate the outcome is achieved
    • Column 4 - Report results of the planned means of assessment
    • Column 5 - Analyze how results of the assessment may be used to improve support services
